Bloggers Unite…

November 30, 2008 at 8:19 pm (Uncategorized)

… so im sitting in church this morning and, still new to this blogging thing, i have to admit i was kind of listening for something to “blog” on… but the pasage we read was in Psalms and it got me thinking. david was sitting their writing out his thoughts in a song backslash also the bible, about what was going on in his life at the time. At first i was like holy crap, the bible is like a big blog of different men, then all in the same though i was like, “blake you are an idiot, and that is not what it is”. but the reason for this post is to say that, maybe that is a good way to explain the bible..

Now, i completely understand that the Word of God is holy and above all, and im not trying to bring it below the level that it should be held, but…

what i am trying to say is that so many times we think the bible and its stories are so far off and that God is somehow finished with us because the bible is finished being written. but i believe, and i have learned that we are just as much a part of Christ and His story as the people portrayed in it were… i believe that we are called to be part of that story and just because we are not techniquely writing that story (Bible) doesnt mean that we are not part of fufilling scripture in the aspect that we can be Christ to others and that are to be Christ and impact those for Him…

let me know what you think, or if you think i am completely wrong, because i want to learn something new if im going in the wrong direction… basically feedback people!!

i think i would have to say that you are heading in the right direction, man. there is so much more to the story of God. i will say, though, that you might be walking a fine line comparing the two styles of writing (blogging and inspiration from the divine), lol. but hey man, there is much more to be written, and we can be a part of it.

i agree with james on the fine line between blogging and inspiration from the divine. That’s pretty funny. I mean think about this: Blogs are normally meant to be read(or at least the author hopes so). How many of the authors of the books of The Bible even gave thought to their writings being read? Look at the Apostle John. Stranded on the Isle of Patmos, exhiled and forsaken, do you think he was hoping for a big publishing deal? Probably not. To think one of the last things he writes in the book of Revelation, is “do not add or take away from this book.” He had no idea that one day those words would find themselves in the very end of the whole Holy Scriptures. That God the divine Author would close His Holy Book with those words. Deep stuff when you think about it…

im going to have to disagree with that one, lol. exile wasn’t for a lifetime, but only for a time. god was showing john things and he knew he need to right these things down. john had a purpose for his writing, and he knew who he wanted to read it. it is very evident in his introduction when he clearly addresses it to the seven churches. why would he do that if he didn’t have any expectations for it. im not saying he knew it would be scripture. i dont feel any biblical author did, but he had a purpose for it. just some food for thought.

i was gonna say that james… paul wrote many letters to many churches, and he meant all of them to be read. he wasnt at those churches when he wrote them, he was usually in prison, but he knew they would get to where they needed to be, and ur right josh i would want people to read my blog if i took the time to write it out, and i wouldnt write it out if no one read it, but i will keep writing because obviously you guys are reading… haha

i kinda meant that he had no idea that his writing would be read by the millions through the form of the Bible. Yeah he knew the people in those churches would read it, he addressed it them. That how those whole letter things work. I never said John didn’t have a purpose for writting, but that he probably felt weird writting this stuff down, exhiled on an island, the only hope was the hope from his Savior and Lord.

Blake, keep writting even if nobody reads it, because they might not read it now, but maybe one day they will.

it just sounded like it when you said,
“How many of the authors of the books of The Bible even gave thought to their writings being read?”
or, “do you think he was hoping for a big publishing deal?”
that is just how i understood it. my b, homie.

james, i think you’re being a little to critical of what i’m saying.

Blake, i’ll try to be more clear on your blog.

hey guys i love u both, but i would rather you find somewhere else to figure out your differences besides my blog.. the whole point of the post was not to question the validity of the bible or to whether the writer thought it was the bible or not that they thought they were writing..

all i was trying to say is that sometimes we miss out on being apart of God’s story because the bible is already written… i was just saying that just because it has finished being written doesnt mean the story is over…

    thats it nothing else!!!

    love u guys
